This page explains how advertising and any affiliate arrangements operate on this site. It supplements the how we make money page.

Current arrangements

No advertising is served on this site and no affiliate links are used. No advertising network is integrated, no sponsored content has been published, and no link on this site earns a commission.

The rules below describe how advertising would be handled if it were introduced. They are published now so that the standard is set before there is any commercial pressure on it.

Labelling

Advertising is visually distinct from editorial content and labelled as advertising.
Any affiliate link is disclosed on the page where it appears, not only here.
Sponsored content, if it were ever published, would be labelled in the headline area — not in a footnote.

What advertisers do not get

Influence over editorial content, rankings, comparisons or risk warnings.
Advance sight of coverage that mentions them.
Removal or softening of criticism, including regulator findings.
Any change to a sourced figure.

Financial services advertising

Advertising for financial products in the markets we cover is regulated. Financial promotions to UK consumers must be approved by an authorised person; Australian and New Zealand rules impose their own requirements. We do not approve financial promotions and are not authorised to do so.

An advertisement appearing on this site is not an endorsement, not a recommendation, and not evidence that the advertiser is licensed in your jurisdiction. Check the FCA Financial Services Register, ASIC Connect or the New Zealand Financial Service Providers Register before dealing with any financial firm, including one that advertises here.

Reporting a problem advertisement

If you see an advertisement on this site that appears fraudulent, misleading or unlicensed, tell us through the contact page with a screenshot and the page it appeared on. Given the scale of AI-branded investment fraud documented on our scams page, we treat these reports as urgent.
