About AI Trading Book
Last updated 28 August 2026
AI Trading Book is an independent reference site on AI and algorithmic trading for readers in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. We are not a broker, not a licensed adviser, and not a vendor. We sell no signals, no bots, no courses and no subscriptions.
Why this site exists
Searching for information about AI trading returns two kinds of page: marketing from companies selling tools, and fraud impersonating those companies. Both make claims about returns. Neither cites a primary source. Meanwhile the regulators — the FCA, ASIC and the FMA — publish detailed material that answers most of the questions people actually have, and almost nobody reads it.
This site sits between those. It reads the regulatory publications, the peer-reviewed research and the vendor pricing pages, and reports what they say with the document numbers and dates attached, so any reader can check the claim without trusting us.
What we publish
- Regulatory analysis for the three markets we cover, tied to named documents and dates.
- Evidence on performance and prediction accuracy, drawn from fund indices and peer-reviewed work.
- Platform pricing and limits captured from vendor pages, with a capture date.
- Methodology explainers on backtesting, overfitting and validation.
- A data hub holding every figure used anywhere on the site with its source.
What we do not publish
- Financial, investment, legal or tax advice of any kind.
- Recommendations to buy, sell or hold any instrument.
- Predictions, signals, model outputs or performance forecasts.
- Any figure we could not trace to a primary source — see the editorial policy.
Our position on AI trading
The evidence we have compiled does not support the marketing. AI hedge fund indices have underperformed passive benchmarks over fifteen years, careful directional accuracy sits a few points above a well-chosen baseline, and the largest documented consumer harm in this market is fraud rather than model error. We report that because it is what the sources say, not because we have a position to sell.
Equally, AI in finance demonstrably works for specific tasks — execution cost reduction, fraud detection, surveillance and research throughput. The regulator surveys show that is where firms actually deploy it. Both halves belong in an honest account.
Who runs it
AI Trading Book is published by Example Reference Media Ltd (demo placeholder), registered in England and Wales (demo placeholder) under company number 00000000 (demo placeholder), at 1 Example Street, London EC1A 1AA (demo placeholder). Editorial contact details are on the contact page.
Pages are attributed to AI Trading Book Editorial rather than to individual bylines. We would rather attribute work to an accountable publisher with a stated method than invent named experts, which is a common practice in this sector and a poor signal of anything.
Corrections
We make mistakes and we log them. Every change made after publication appears on the corrections page with the date and what changed. If you find an error, the fastest route is a document number or URL that contradicts what we published.
